Dabei handelt es sich um eines der zahlreichen Joint Programmes der Europäischen Energieforschungsallianz EERA.

Diese Allianz wurde im März 2020 in der EU Industriestrategie angekündigt und am 8. Juli 2020 formal gestartet. Sie wird voraussichtlich für die Umsetzung der EU-Wasserstoffstrategie eine strategische Rolle spielen. Ziel: „large-scale deployment of clean hydrogen technologies by 2030“, konkretisiert durch die Zielsetzungen von RePower EU.

Die EGHAC wurde im November 2020 gegründet. Ziel sind schwer zu dekarbonisierende Wertschöpfungsketten der Industrie, der Fokus liegt auf Lösungen mit grünem Wasserstoff.

Es gibt sechs Workstreams:

• Promotion and co-creation of industrial projects across the value chain
• Building connections with other industrial and energy value chains
• Acceleration of technology development
• Stimulation of market growth
• Societal acceptance
• Addressing the skills gaps

Die European Partnership for Clean Hydrogen ist eine der rund 50 Partnerschaften in Horizon Europe: ein industriegeleitetes europäisches FTI-Programm, das von der EU kofinanziert ist (Public-Private Partnership). Die Partnership hat im November 2021 die Nachfolge des  Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking übernommen.

Der "Agenda process for a European research initiative on hydrogen technologies" wurde von der deutschen Ratspräsidentschaft angestoßen. Österreich ist aktiv dabei.

Dabei handelt es sich um ein Netzwerk, organisiert von der Generaldirektion ENER der Europäischen Kommission, um Staaten im Bereich Wasserstoff zu unterstützen.

“The Hydrogen Energy Network is an informal group of representatives from the energy ministries in EU countries that aims to help national energy authorities build on the opportunities offered by hydrogen as an energy carrier. It acts as an informal platform to share information on good practices, experience and the latest developments in hydrogen, and to work jointly on specific issues. The Hydrogen Energy Network meetings take place twice a year.”

"The Hydrogen Initiative aims to advance policies, programmes and projects that accelerate the commercialization and deployment of hydrogen fuels and technologies across all aspects of the economy.  Building on recommendations from the Hydrogen energy Ministerial meeting in 2018 in Japan, and in partnership with other coalitions like the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy (IPHE) and Mission Innovation, the initiative focuses on how hydrogen can contribute to cleaner energy systems, while promoting sustainability, resilience and energy security."

Es gibt drei sogenannte "Key Areas":

• Helping to ensure successful deployment of hydrogen within current industrial applications.
• Enabling deployment of hydrogen technologies in transport (e.g. freight, mass transit, light-rail, marine).
• Exploring the role of hydrogen in meeting the energy needs of communities.

Dabei sind 21 Länder, darunter Österreich. Die IEA hat die Koordination dieser Initiative übernommen.

Im Jahr 2023 wurde im Rahmen des Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) das International Hydrogen Trade Forum als hochrangige, internationale H2-Initiative ins Leben gerufen. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Ministerkooperation zwischen Import/Exportländern, um das Thema "Wasserstoffhandel" voranzutreiben. Dabei wird vor allem die Bedeutung des Aufbaus internationaler Wasserstoffversorgungsketten, die auch als "Handelskorridore" bezeichnet werden, betont. Zu den derzeitigen Mitgliedern zählen: Australien, Brasilien, Kanada, Chile, Deutschland, Japan, Saudi-Arabien, Südkorea, Niederlande, Vereinigte Arabische Emirate, Vereinigtes Königreich, Vereinigte Staaten, Uruguay, Europäische Kommission. Die Initiative wird von der UNIDO betreut. Ein Beitritt Österreichs zu dieser Initiative ist in Vorbereitung.

Diese Aktivität ist im Rahmen der Mission Innovation Mitte 2021 gestattet worden und folgt der "Mission Innovation Challenge Renewable and Clean Hydrogen" nach.

"The Clean Hydrogen Mission will accelerate the building of a global clean hydrogen economy by reducing end-to-end clean hydrogen costs to USD $2 per kg by 2030. This represents a tipping point in making clean hydrogen cost competitive with other energy vectors in different industries across production, transportation, storage and end-use. To achieve the goal, Mission members together commit to deliver at least 100 large-scale integrated clean hydrogen valleys worldwide by 2030. Diese Partnerschaft ist Teil des Global Programme for Green Hydrogen in Industry der UNIDO. Sie wurde am 6. Juli 2021 in Wien beim Vienna Energy Forum gestartet.

„The Global Partnership for Hydrogen in Industry aims to accelerate global strategic dialogue and stimulate synergies. It will enhance the exchange, development and distribution of knowledge on policies, technical guidelines and standards. The envisioned Partnership is an ambitious initiative that demands cooperation and coordination across sectors and stakeholders. UNIDO invites different partners and donors to explore and identify areas for collaboration to ensure carbon neutral industries.“

Das erste Hydrogen Energy Ministerial wurde im Jahr 2018 von Japan initiiert. Die Ministerials finden ein Mal pro Jahr statt, Österreich ist immer wieder aktiv dabei. Das fünfte Ministerial fand im September 2022 statt:

"The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) held the Fifth Hydrogen Energy Ministerial Meeting, in cooperation with the International Energy Agency (IEA), as a part of Tokyo GX week, on September 26, 2022. As the result of the meeting, the chair released the chair’s summary for acceleration and enlargement of the Tokyo Statement and the Global Action Agenda, including additional goals on the amount of renewable and low-carbon hydrogen to be produced by 2030 of at least 90Mt H2."

The formation of IPHE was facilitated by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Transportation in 2003 to foster international cooperation on hydrogen and fuel cell R&D, common codes and standards, and information sharing on infrastructure development. Originally organized as "The International Partnership for the Hydrogen Economy," the organization changed its official title to "The International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy" in December 2009 (still abbreviated as IPHE).

IPHE  hat derzeit zwei aktive Working Groups:

• Education & Outreach (E&O) Working Group
• Regulations, Codes, Standards, & Safety (RCSS) Working Group

und zwei Task Forces:

• Hydrogen Production Analysis (H2PA)
• Hydrogen Trade Rules (H2TR)

Die Partnerschaft hat 21 Mitgliedsländer, darunter Österreich (AEA im Auftrag BMK), die Europäische Kommission nimmt ebenfalls teil.

Eine Aktivität der Internationalen Agentur für Erneuerbare Energie IRENA

Diese Aktivität erfuhr im Mai 2023 einen Relaunch. Es wurden 80 Hydrogen Valleys in 30 Ländern weltweit identifiziert. Aus Österreich ist die WIVA P&G dabei.

Diese Initiative wurde im Rahmen der UNFCCC durch „industry first movers“ (Selbstbezeichnung) gegründet.

"Launched in 2020 with the convening support of the UN’s High-Level Climate Action Champions and RMI, the Green Hydrogen Catapult is a global initiative whose goal is to drive a massive green hydrogen scale-up by 2026. The Green Hydrogen Catapult’s goal is to promote the build out of 45 Gigawatts of green hydrogen capacity by 2026 to decarbonize key parts of the global economy."

"The Hydrogen Council is a global initiative of leading energy, transport and industry companies with a united vision and long-term ambition for hydrogen to foster the energy transition. Launched at the World Economic Forum 2017, in Davos, it is a coalition of CEOs. The Hydrogen Council is made up of nearly 150 Steering Members, Supporting Members and Investor Group Members."

Das Council hat keinen Sitz oder fixes Sekretariat, sondern ein „rotating global secretariat“ durch den jeweiligen Vorsitz. Das Council beauftragt Studien und organisiert Veranstaltungen. Aus Österreich dabei: AVL.
